Climate

Guanacaste’s climate and culture are unique among Costa Rican provinces. Compared to other parts of Costa Rica, the climate along the North Pacific Coast is typically hot and dry. The province experiences little rain and consistent heat from November to April. From May to October, the climate is similar to that of San José, consisting of showers daily and moderate temperatures. Guanacaste is, however, considerably warmer than provinces residing in higher elevations.

However, there is no better time of the year to visit or live in Guanacaste. Indeed, no matter if you are there during the dry season or during the wet season, both provide outstanding advantages. During the dry season, you will be delighted by the sun and the abundance of activities and tanning time while the wet season brings the trees into bloom with explosions of colors and fragrances. A magnificent green recovers the countryside for spectacular views.
